A California bow hunter claims he shot a mountain lion in self defense in the Laguna Mountains of San Diego County, but state Fish and Game wardens didn't buy his story and cited him for illegally killing it.

BOW HUNTER FINED IN DEATH OF LION
Bow hunter Bruce Rucker of El Centro said he was hunting deer in the Laguna Mountains from a makeshift ground blind during the archery-only season when a mountain lion closed to within 20 feet of him.
